Landscaping and excavation on ground below the escarpment, with grading, stone steps, and clearing.
Hero image: a generated landscape concept for Soddy Daisy, TN. Generated concept of a graded wooded slope with rough stone steps below a sandstone escarpment It is conceptual inspiration, not a photograph of a real property or proof of completed work.
Soddy Daisy was formed in 1969 when the communities of Soddy and Daisy and nearby areas along U.S. Route 27 merged. It had 13,070 residents in 2020, and the 2025 Gazetteer lists about 23.2 square miles of land and 0.9 of water. Coal mining shaped both older communities.
A merged city carries different ground in different corners. Tell us whether you are nearer the old Soddy side to the north or the Daisy side to the south, and mention your road, since conditions are not the same across the whole city.
Because the city stretches from the old Soddy side to the Daisy side, driving times between corners can be longer than people expect. Giving us a road name and the nearest highway, either U.S. Route 27 or State Route 111, helps us place the property without guessing.

The city sits at the base of the Cumberland Escarpment, the east face of Walden Ridge on the Cumberland Plateau. An inlet of Chickamauga Lake, the lower part of Soddy Creek, lies to the east. State Route 111 crosses the ridge toward Dunlap from the northern part of the city.
Land close to a ridge can slope hard, so grading comes up often. Landscape grading shapes the contours of outdoor ground. Point out where the surface rises and falls, how water crosses it, and which beds, trees, or paths sit nearby.
The area is known for the Stone Fort bouldering area, and a replica of Poe's Tavern commemorates the county's first courthouse site. Those are named references, not property conditions. Use them to tell us roughly where you live, not as a hint about the rock under your yard.
Hardscape installation can add steps or terraces where a slope is hard to use, and ground clearing can open space for them. Harbor Lights Marina on Chickamauga Lake and Sequoyah Nuclear Generating Station are also in the area, so an address helps us place you accurately.
Steep sites need extra care. Tell us about the route equipment would take, the width of any gate or lane, and whether a slope is too steep for you to walk comfortably. Mention overhead lines and large trees along the path.
Photographs from the bottom of the slope looking up, and from the top looking down, help show how stone steps or terraces might fit. We would rather talk through access limits at the start than discover them later, and we will not treat any rock or escarpment feature as typical of your lot.

Learn moreOfficial sources often hyphenate it, but we write Soddy Daisy. Either way it is a Hamilton County city formed in 1969 from Soddy and Daisy.
Often the two are planned together. Describe the height of the slope, the route you want, and where water runs so the sequence makes sense.
Ground clearing is an approved service. Near water, ask the relevant authority what applies, and share the boundary and trees to keep.
Hardscape installation is an approved service. Describe the height, the route, and what lies at each end so we can discuss options.
