Signal Mountain is a town in Hamilton County, Tennessee, on the south end of Walden Ridge. It was chartered in 1919, sits at about 1,703 feet, and counted 8,852 residents in 2020. The name comes from Signal Point, a promontory that Native Americans used to send fire and smoke signals and that the Union Army later used as a communications station.
The town's own history page notes that the southern edge overlooks the Tennessee River far below. In the early twentieth century, Charles E. James developed the mountain, and in 1913 twelve miles of streetcar track linked it to Chattanooga. Those tracks remain in the streets of the historic district, a detail worth remembering when you plan any work near the road edge.

U.S. Route 127, known as Ridgeway Avenue, is the main road through town. Signal Mountain borders Chattanooga to the south, Walden to the northeast, and the unincorporated community of Fairmount to the north. About 1,060 people per square mile live here, which suggests established lots with mature plantings, though this varies by neighborhood.
Because the town sits on a ridge, many yards may slope, and bluff side lots may have views worth protecting. Describe your grade, the trees you want to keep, and how people move from the house to the yard. Ask the Town of Signal Mountain about any local requirements before work begins.
Landscape design is a sensible place to begin when you are rethinking an established yard. A plan can bring planting, paths, and gathering areas into one view before details are chosen. Landscape lighting installation can then add definition to paths, steps, and entries after dark, with attention to neighbors.
Tree and shrub planting adds structure and screening, while retaining wall installation may be one option where the ground changes level. Tree removal is a separate approved service for a specific tree. Photograph the yard from the house and from the street, mark anything you want preserved, and use the contact form or phone number to request a quote.
Include the age of existing plantings if you know it, along with any views you hope to open or screen. Mention whether work would be near a shared drive or road edge so access can be discussed.
