Landscaping and excavation in the Sequatchie Valley, with patio, retaining wall, and drainage options. Describe your yard and ask for a quote.

Dunlap is the county seat of Sequatchie County, Tennessee. It was founded in 1858 on 40 acres chosen for their central location, and the 2020 census counted 5,357 residents across 10.8 square miles at about 712 feet. The city is named for state legislator William Claiborne Dunlap, who helped create the county.
Its best known relic is industrial. Around 1900, the Douglas Coal and Coke Company built the first of 268 coke ovens to convert coal from Fredonia Mountain. The ovens produced coke until 1927, and the ruins are now Dunlap Coke Ovens Park. It is a local landmark, and a reminder that the Dunlap area has worked with stone, rock, and heat for generations.

Dunlap lies near the center of the Sequatchie Valley, and the escarpment known locally as Fredonia Mountain rises more than 1,000 feet above the valley just west of town. The Sequatchie River forms part of the city's southern edge. Those landforms do not say what your lot is like, but they are good reasons to look closely at slope and runoff.
If part of your yard sits below a rising grade, note where water crosses it and where it stops. Retaining wall installation and French drain installation are approved options to discuss in that situation, and excavation may be part of preparing the ground. Check with the City of Dunlap about anything that may apply inside city limits.
Hardscape installation and paver patio installation suit owners who want a firm, defined place for outdoor use. Think about how you will reach it from the door, how large it needs to be, and how the ground falls around it. Ground clearing can come first where growth or debris occupies the intended area.
These are separate approved services, and the order of work depends on your property. Share photographs, rough dimensions, and what you want to keep, then use the contact form or phone number to request a quote.
If your yard slopes, photograph it from above and below, and note which neighboring structures sit near the work area. Mention whether the grade changes sharply or gradually and where rainwater leaves the property. Say whether you hope for a patio that adjoins a wall or two separate features. Dunlap homeowners near the mountain edge and those on flatter valley ground may need very different plans, so describe your own lot rather than the town.
